Star of the Sea: Where Heaven Meets Earth

Star of the Sea

Tranquility by the sea

Located on the ocean, just a five-minute drive from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Star of the Sea offers a mix of oceanside living with the convenience of city life, nature trails, and relaxation.

We are conveniently located  at the York Redoubt Park entrance. Stella Maris, or Star of the Sea, was purchased privately in 2012 and lovingly restored by Fosterbuilt Construction over a period of two-years.

Most areas were custom designed and meticulously completed by Thomas Foster himself. The building was created in 1846 and stands proud to this day.

A retreat from the world

This is a true retreat for artists, retirees and couples.  During the summer months, be treated to spectacular harbour scenery that includes cruise ships, sail boats, submarines, lobster fishing boats, whales and huge cargo ships.

Convenient walking paths and beautiful views are right outside our door. Treat yourself to a hot stone massage offered by an experienced Registered Massage Therapist, with electronic billing available. A pool overlooking the ocean and Halifax Harbour is coming 2017.

Popping the corks on the wedding deck

A perfect venue for small boutique weddings

With its spectacular views and immaculate design, Star of the Sea is a beautiful setting for a small wedding.

Couples can exchange rings and vows on the deck overlooking the historic Halifax Harbour and McNabs Island.

Plan your special get-aways

Star of the Sea is a perfect get away for special occasions: a girl’s weekend, a special anniversary, a venue for the wedding party or a small family reunion.

Walks, berry-picking and relaxation on the deck

Come in September and harvest black berries fresh for the picking along York Redoubt’s walking trails. Take advantage of the lovely veranda on a rainy day or just enjoy the view and reflect. An upstairs deck is a great treat on a sunny day allowing for great tanning and basking.
